We live in a society where new Trends are constantly discovered and marketed to us, as the new solution to our problems. Has anybody noticed that most of this ”Trends” are actually very basic and logical to our human nature? Apparently, in the technology ruled world we live in, mother nature has become our Trendsetter. Recently I came across an article about something called Earthing. Although I could somehow make sense of this term, I wasn’t sure. So I investigated a little further.
What is Earthing all about?
I love to go barefoot. It gives me a feeling of freedom. Living in the city, in an apartment without a garden has made things a little challenging when it comes to freeing my toes. Yet, there are many places, like parks with soft, green grass or perhaps a nearby beach, with wet sand.
It makes such a difference. Walking in your shoes or walking barefoot.

What is Earthing or Grounding?
Earthing is a simple practice, in which you connect to the earths energy fields by walking barefoot on the earth. It is vital, organic and effortless. It is most natural.
When was the last time you walked barefoot on the Earth?
Are you often tired and stressed out? Almost as if your batteries are just run down? More often this is an indication that your energy levels are not balanced. I am not talking about the amount of sleep you have had, or the food choices you make. Humans are designed to connect to the Earth. To ground themselves.
The earths energy isn’t seen by the naked eye, but it can be measured. People that are constantly surrounded and exposed to electronics, are at risk to loos their energies. Our connection to nature has gone lost in the process of modernizing our world.
Earthing or Grounding is basically just that. It means to connect to the earth and recharge our batteries. We walk on rubber and wood. This physical disconnection from the earth causes high levels of anxiety and stress.

The potential benefits of regularly connecting with the earth by walking barefoot along the beach or playing in the park are enormous. The major benefits of Earthing is that it seems to soothe inflammations. This is due to the transfer of negatively charged electrons, or ions that we connect through the Earths surface. Negative charged electrons neutralize positive charged electrons, which are involved in chronic inflammations.
The book ”Earthing” – by Stephan Sinatra has awaken the interest from all sorts of people. As usual, the scientists are on their studies. The research provides evidence of physiological and psychological health benefits.
Individuals record to sleep better, feel more energized and less depressed. Pain, fatigue and symptoms of stress seem to disappear.
A number of several studies shows that Earthing can improve blood thickness and flow. Therefore it is beneficial for cardiovascular health. There are many potential benefits that Earthing has on our bodies.
Stay away from Earthing alternatives
As with everything, Earthing is too simple to be a ground breaking evolution on it’s own. It is no surprise the industry came up with alternatives, just in case you know. So called ”Earthing floor mats” or ”Earthing bed sheets” have made it on the market.
Oram Miller, an expert in building biology, warns not to use those alternative solutions. The way those products work is by directing negative ions into the ”Earthing floor mat”, for example. When humans use those mats however, they themselves turn to an electromagnetic router. This is causing the total opposite effect. Safe your hard earned money and stay away from those.
If you want to recharge your energy levels, just go outside and walk on the beach. Do that regularly, for half an hour and you can see how you start to feel more energized, more happy.
